Louis Tomlinson's new song is hitting me in the feels

Eight years since losing my own Mom, "Two uf Us" speaks TO "us"

A couple days ago, a record industry executive came by to play me a song I'd not yet heard, and I can't honeslty remember if it's because it wasn't available TO be heard yet or if I'd purposely avoided it.

"Why would you avoid hearing a song," you ask?

Former 'One Direction' singer Louis Tomlinson wrote it; it's not that he wrote it that made me bristle. It's that he wrote it to his mom, who he lost in 2016 to cancer. She was but 43 years old.

I knew it would affect me, and it has. It did. There I was, with this exec I'd never hung out with before, along with another close friend I've known (who also knew my Mom) for nearly 25 years, and I did the stoic thing and kept my emotions in "check." Time also seems to help strengthen resolve, too, I've learned.

I lost my Mom to gallbladder cancer (such a rare form of cancer you hardly ever hear about it) in 2011. Nearly to the date I'm writing this, actually. She put up a brave, nearly two-year, fight, but passed at the age of 58; not as young as Louis' mother when she was lost, but still too young. I'm sure Louis, like me, imagined having his mother at his wedding and greeting his kids - her grandkids - at years of family visits. I didn't meet my better half until three months after my Mom passed, and I know she'd love who I wound up with, which is both comforting and painful.

Anyhow, I could go on and on about how this song got my mind to racing, but I figured I'd just share the lyric video with you and let you understand where he's coming from the way I do.

The lyrics that hit me?

So I will keep you, day and night, here until the day I die
I'll be living one life for the two of us
I will be the best of me, always keep you next to me
I'll be living one life for the two of us

NOTE: Goodness; this news just broke as well: Louis' 18-year old sister today passed away from a heart attack. More on that HERE!
