As the city of Atlanta is (we believe!) on the brink of only it's second-ever major league title (c'mon, Atlanta United!), we're reminded that hockey's been a hard sell here. There've been two National Hockey League (NHL) franchises and an International League (IHL) franchise that's come and gone, and the Atlanta Gladiators of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) have unveiled a "tribute" of sorts to those passing franchises.

Paying respect to the former Atlanta Flames & Thrashers of the NHL and Knights of the IHL, the Gladiators showed off new alternate uniforms. In it, you'll see a good bit of touches to honor all three former pro hockey teams that used to call Atlanta home, from the three stripes on the sleeves (from the Flames) to the "ATLANTA" sleeve from Thrashers' glory to the two large stripes at the belt line from the Knights' heyday.

According to Chris Treft, Director of Communications for the Gladiators, the team will wear this set Friday and Sunday this weekend, and throughout the season.

Check out the new look below, and where designers drew their inspiration from. More from the team on their new third uniform HERE

Oh, and I'd be remiss without mentioning that the Glads 2018-19 season is on - with a home game tomorrow night (December 7th) against Orlando. TIckets available HERE!
