Every Day Hero: Local Resident, Bob Cox, is Making Huge Strides in Cancer Research!

We're highlighting a very special every day hero who is dedicating his time to finding a cure for cancer.

June 24, 2019

Meet Bob Cox! He is raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The LLS works to provide patient support and education, lifesaving research, and advocacy efforts that benefit blood cancer patients. Bob is raising money for the LLS program, Team in Training, and will be competing in the IRONMAN World Championship this October in Kona, Hawaii. The IRONMAN championship includes a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run! Bob has committed to raise a minimum of $50,000 with a HUGE goal of $100,000 to help find a cure for blood cancer. He started this journey in honor of his mother, Alida, who is a survivor of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He plans to add Jenn's daughter Reese's name to his honored heroes list that he will carry with him across the finish line at the IRONMAN Championship! When referencing the IRONMAN Championship Bob said, "what’s most exciting is not only do I get to be on the same course as the world’s top athletes, but more importantly, I’m supporting LLS’s goal to find cures for blood cancers and ensure that patients have access to lifesaving treatments. Research funded by LLS saved my mother’s life, and I am truly thankful".

His goal is to raise $100,00 and he has so far raised a little over $35,000. If you would like to learn more about what Bob is doing (or to donate), you can visit his fundraising page HERE.

Because of his work with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, his goal of raising $100,000 for cancer research, and his plan to finish the IRONMAN World Championship, Bob Cox is our every day hero!
