Maci is going to the North Pole!

Special thanks to CHOA and Delta

December 12, 2019

Meet Maci, she is 4 years old. Maci was diagnosed with T-cell Leukemia on July 2nd, 2019. Her mom thought she had the cold so she took her to the doctor. Prior to going to the doctor, Maci quit eating and had some GI issues which caused some concern for mom as well. Upon going to the Pediatrician, they thought Maci may have mono. However, after running some tests, Maci was then diagnosed with leukemia. Maci will have a total of two and half years of treatment before she is able to get to a stage where she has no evidence of disease and she can ring the bell. She is currently in her third phase on chemo, called inter-maintenance. According to her mom, Maci has been doing really well and responding well to treatment. She did have to have a fungal infection removed from the top of her head as well as a new port due to an infection in her lung from her port.

Maci is a true fighter and mom thinks that this trip to the North Pole will be such a positive experience for Maci given everything she has been through over the past 6 months.

Delta is giving CHOA patients the chance to fly to the North Pole and meet Santa! They’ll arrive at the airport, board a plane, and “fly” all the way to Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole!

When they arrive, they’ll get off the plane and be surrounded in a Christmas wonderland, and they’ll get to meet Santa himself.
