All The Feels!

This duck is more than a companion!

September 14, 2018

The My Special Aflac Duck is more than just a companion for children in hospitals. The duck is specifically designed to help kids communicate how they feel through their treatment. It cannot be bought, but one will be donated FOR FREE to children recently diagnosed with cancer ages 3-13. The duck can have a number of different feelings. He has cards with emojis that children can use to help identify how they feel.

Children can have a difficult time explaining how or why they feel the way they do. But My Special Aflac Duck allows them to communicate through their duck.

28-year-olds Aaron Horowitz and Hannah Chung designed and created the My Special Aflac Duck and worked with over 100 families through Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta on how to best develop it.

My Special Aflac Duck was brought to the Consumer Electronics Show it won 3 major awards:‘Tech For A Better World’, ‘Showstopper’ which is voted on by media, and ‘Best of Show.'

The reveal of the duck took place recently at the Aflac Cancer Center, and each child on the floor was given their very own My Special Aflac Duck. To get a duck, you have to get them through the hospital. Child-life specialists at hospitals can request them through Aflac and they will be provided completely free.
