The biggest brew news for the weekend has to be the Fourth Annual Old 320 Beer Fest at Max Lager's on Saturday, July 27. The brewery attendee list is impressive.

Over 30 breweries and brewpubs will bring craft beer to the event held at Max Lager's from noon to 4 p.m.

Tickets are $60 in advance and $75 at the door and that gets you "wood-fired snacks, a souvenir sampling glass, unlimited beer samples, an edible pretzel lanyard and one raffle ticket to win an amazing European beer journey."

Here's a sample of the breweries bringing over 75 different beers to the event: Dry County, Monday Night, Jailhouse, Eventide, Orpheus, Fire Water, Scofflaw, Creature Comforts, Terrapin, Hop Stix, Second Self, Akademia, and many more. The list can be found here...

Outside of the Old 320 Beer fest event, here are a few new beers around town:

Enjoy their beer before they open... Bold Monk Brewing will open its doors soon in the West End. While you're waiting, they're bringing six of their beers to Old 320 Beer Fest:

  1. Vinification - Flanders Red with Barbera Grape Must
  2. Indominus - Belgian Quad
  3. Cantada - Mixed Culture Saison
  4. Stained Rose - Mixed Culture Saison Aged on Cherries & Nebbiolo Grapes
  5. Incantation - Golden Sour
  6. Virtue of Patience - Blended BA Mixed Culture Ale

What can you do with 800 pounds of peaches and a lot of love for beer geeks? If you're Six Bridges Brewing you make a Peach Milkshake IPA called Love Tractor. And guess what? Thursday was the day Six Bridges released Love Tractor in cans. You'll be able to find 16-ounce cans in four packs soon where you buy your craft beer.

This is not the greatest beer in the world, no. This is just a tribute. Maybe you'll think it's the greatest, who knows? What I do know is Tenacious D will play the Coca-Cola Roxy on August 5 and Terrapin Beer Company has has released a hazy IPA called Post-Hopocalypto for the concert. If you want to wait until the show to enjoy this beer, they'll have it there. If you need to find the secret to your power, Wonderboy, head to the taproom to enjoy Post-Hopocalypto.

Something kind of special is happening at 7 p.m. Friday in Carrollton. The folks at Printer's Ale are changing their Everyday Yellow Golden Ale into a pilsner. Head over to the launch party at Irish Bred Pub and afterward you can find this new pilsner in the Printer's taproom.

Ribbon Cutting announcement... On Friday from 3-4 p.m. the Revival Hall Taproom will welcome everyone to its ribbon cutting in Jefferson. "Revival Hall Taproom is a community gathering space. We have live music on weekends, lots of games, and beer and wine on tap." Just a few of the breweries on tap are: Creature Comforts, Slow Pour, Southern Brewing, Six Bridges and Red Hare. The menu features over 15 beers on tap.
