Airline Will Let You Know If a Baby Is Seated In Your Row

Travelers now have a new tool to help guarantee their chances of a peaceful flight.

Japan Airlines has launched a new booking feature that lets you know where babies are seated on the plane, according to “Today.”

"Passengers traveling with children between 8 days and 2 years old who select their seats on the JAL website will have a child icon displayed on their seats on the seat selection screen," the airline explained on their website.

While this is amazing news for anyone looking to avoid a screaming infant at 35,000 feet, there are a few instances where the baby seating map won’t take effect.

The baby/child icon will not show up if you book your flight through a third-party site like Expedia or if you book through a tour or use award miles. And if there is a change in aircraft the child icon may not be correctly displayed.

The airline also offers other perks to passengers traveling with kids under two such as priority boarding, free baby blankets and hot water, and changing stations.

Not surprisingly, the news of the new feature had many passengers applauding Japan Airlines.

"Thank you, @JAL_Official_Jp for warning me about where babies plan to scream and yell during a 13 hour trip," one fan wrote on Twitter. "This really ought to be mandatory across the board."

Another added: “Well I think it's a bloody good idea. It doesn't stop people travelling with their babies; it just gives people the option of sitting further away.”

Even “Supergirl” star Chad Lowe got in on the action by humorously adding: “If only they’d include men who wear flip-flops! “

But not everyone was on board with all the cheers about not having to be near noisy infants.

“Babies don't plan to scream, exercise some tolerance and purchase headphones or ear plugs. So petty,” said a person fed up with all the tantrum haters.

While the baby seating map is already accessible on Japan Airlines, no word if other airlines plan to add the tool to their websites.
