This Week in Atlanta Beer

Atlanta Craft Beer

When we all leave work early on Friday (you are getting out early, right?), that joyous moment will mark the beginning of a three-day, Labor Day Weekend.

Speaking of extended time off and scoring, who’s ready to find some great craft beer this weekend?

Here are nine beer-related ways to make your Labor Day Weekend incredible.

  1. Not only is New Realm Brewing releasing its Oktoberfest beer “The Bavarian Prince” on Saturday, but on Friday anyone who comes by the Atlanta brewery dressed in their Dragon Con get up gets $1 off beer.
  2. On Friday, Monday Night Brewing brings back Cardigans of the Galaxy, their Double IPA that’s kind of scarce considering Galaxy hops are hard to come by.
  3. Roswell breweries Gate City Brewing and Variant Brewing are pretty close. If you leave Gate City, take a left on Canton Street and then a right on Norcross Street, you can walk the route in seven minutes. That’s what I call Walking Distance. It’s also what Gate City and Variant called their collaboration brew, a New England IPA. Another cool aspect of this collaboration is that each beer is a bit different.
  4. Speaking of collaborations, Sceptre Brewing Arts got with Torched Hop Brewing and created a Double Dry Hopped IPA called “Homies over Hype.”
  5. The Chicken Sandwich Wars about to get turned on its ear. Soupbelly is about to blow minds with a Chick My Way Pop Up at Pontoon Brewing in Sandy Springs on Saturday. What’s the deal? How about an Asian inspired chicken sandwich to compete with Popeyes and Chick-fil-a?
  6. Creature Comforts has two beers of note this Labor Day weekend. They’re bringing back their fruited Berliner Weisse “Athena Paradiso,” with passion fruit and guava. Also, on Friday they are releasing “Innoculous,” an IPA that will available on draft in their taproom and in 16-ounce cans.
  7. Can you feel college football season in the air? The Georgia Bulldogs are in Nashville to take on Vanderbilt on Saturday. If you aren’t headed north to Tennessee, head to Jefferson to Revival Hall. All weekend they’re selling $5 pints of Red and Black from Southern Brewing Company.
  8. At Urban Tree Cidery it’s Blueberry Cider season. Urban Tree is releasing it Saturday and Sunday to help you through the long weekend.
  9. Orpheus Brewing’s limited release “The Crushing” is available in their Atlanta tasting room only. This wheated lager is available in eight-packs.
